Poem

Love Poem Now We Are Older

Some nights, the dim light
of a single lamp
is so keen upon your face
as you, weary,
begin to doze, drowsy
of the long day,
that though I am alone
in the awareness, my heart breaks
only for you.

I love you again so much,
selfishly, selflessly
I let you sleep a moment longer.
Sitting up
there in your chair,
your head bobs in repose.
