RIP or Be Well

A surprising number of deaths and diagnoses regarding cancer are running through my family and friends, near and far recently. I don’t wish to dwell too long nor be disrespectful to those suffering through the loss of a loved one. However, I want to remind us all that living is why we are here and do so well, for those we miss as well as for ourselves.

To live fully is to live with an awareness of the rumble and terror that underlies everything. Ernest Becker

Some people are so afraid to die, that they never begin to live. Henry van Dyke

When the heart weeps for what it has lost, the soul laughs for what it has found.
Sufi aphorism

The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware
. Henry Miller.

And an Irish Blessing:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Now go out and live and love well. I’ll do the same.

  1. Agreed. Something to allay the fear of bad things happening:In life there are two things to worry about:Either you are sick or you are well.If you are well, there is nothing to worry about. If you are sick there are two things to worry about:Either you will get better or you will die.If you get better, there is nothing to worry about. If you die there are two things to worry about:Either you will go to heaven or hell.If you go to heaven, there's nothing to worry about. If you go to hell, well you'll be so busy catching up with old friends that you won't have time to worry after all.

  2. oh good, you were one of the people i was musing about when i blogged the above, liz. love to you and your family.
